    Buy The National Live in Brussels if you want to hear a good recording of the band live because this release isn't that.

    Caught this tour back in September and have been eagerly awaiting the live album, because nothing hits quite like a National show. IMO, this album is flawless - you’ve got more horns, you’ve got Matt B. screaming himself raw, you’ve got an appreciative crowd singing along, it’s just so. dang. good. It’s hard to pick a standout track, but Runaway, Geese and Smoke Detector might be my favorites. (Today, at least.) As for the mix: It sounds fine to my ears, but a proper sound engineer may beg to differ, idk.

    I think The National is a bit of an acquired taste, but, if you like this band, I’m sure this will be a great addition. The first 3 songs available have high energy and virtuoso playing.

    Probably need to hire someone else to record and mix the live recordings...after the Berkeley one, was hoping they would fix. Have seen them live 10 times and love it but never comes across right on these live records...disappointing.
