David's solo stuff is good as elevator music, and not much else. I don't know how he can be so creative and awesome while writing A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell (lyrically and musically) only to habitually churn out this LAME garbage. Truly sad to see so much talent and potential being constantly squandered; but I guess this kind of thing happens to most artists -- at some point (usually after the "Millionaire" status has been achieved) they just lose the edge and spark that once made them so great.

I like….many, appreciate Gilmour’s work above the rest. Does this album take me to the same places I’ve relished over the years ? No, but does it need too ? If we’re lucky we will get to experience the test of time. I was anxiously awaiting this release. I have to be honest - first impressions were so-so. I waited for a few days, played it again, this time sitting down reading the lyrics & absorbing its gifts. This time I wept. Not that it was an ear orgasmic experience, but rather an exchange of beauty for wisdom. His collections of time, his partner, his family & the beauty of his soul. For fans that remember how Gilmour joined Pink Floyd, a humble situation with the transition of Syd Barrett, Gilmour never let his ego preclude his demure reverence to Syd. Think about those songs & their lyrics “Wish You Were Here”, etc. Gilmour never placed his ego above the band or the others & doesn’t to this day. The quietness of his voice & his demeanor are who he is. The brilliance of all those songs/lyrics & their poetic meaning, if you’re paying attention tell a beautiful story. He & Polly just celebrated 30 years of marriage. We should all be that fortunate to find a love that endures the test of time & all it’s changes. Nothing stays the same. The world isn’t the same. They donated his iconic guitars & their unique sounds to save the earth because it’s not the same. Enjoy this album for what it is & realize you aren’t the same either! At least he’s still here sharing his gifts - appreciate them for what they mean now - 50 years later & when you want to transcend fire up some “Dark Side of the Moon” & then realize we’ve all grown up !

    Great music!
  • Mix and match from his old albums plus more feminine lyrics

Been his fan my entire life since I was 9 but unfortunately this is not a Pink Floyd standard anymore. It’s more like a family gathered together wife wrote the lyrics daughter did a couple of songs beautiful voice but not mature enough to go with David’s voice then grabbed some notes from Animal, Darkside of the moon and shine on you crazy diamond. Lyrics are more feminine obviously done by Poly which doesn’t sound Pink Floyd or even David Gilmours singles. If it was an anniversary gift from David to Poly that’d make more sense than making another album. Sorry I stick to your old albums won’t pay for this.👎

    It’s very good!!!
  • Romany's vocals get the additional star.

It's absolutely disheartening to see David falling from grace with this rather mundane effort, save for the track "Between Two Points" featuring Romany on vocals. Apart from this glimpse of reminiscence from days of glory past, I'll have to relish on David's past efforts to appreciate what a great musician he is capable of being.

I’m afraid I can’t warm to this album. It’s not that it isn’t good, it’s great! It’s just that I’m haunted by the ghosts of the greatest artists ever to make music Pink Floyd.. Gilmore is Pink Floyd, and whenever I see him it’s always, wish you were here or shine on you crazy Diamond. Gilmore loves this album and I congratulate him.. it’s just not for me.

Does anyone know if the barn jam, and the actual recording of Luck and Strange, is the final studio work of David and Nick Wright together?
