This is my favorite Aurora album in years !
The production on this album is nearly flawless and I think the vocal expansion (lower register) and other aspects make it really interesting sonically. Echo of my Shadow, Invisible Wounds, My Name, and Dreams are very reminiscent of her earlier work with Infections (which I love). Gone is the odd production from TGWCT. Instead we get a lot of fun and very clear vocals. The themes on this album are rather dark (just FYI), but well done. The album I think is perfect except for the disco-like number... but the rest slap!
Check it out!

At 63 keeping up on music isn’t at all motivating but why haven’t I ever heard of Aurora not the case for say AG or TS of which I only recognize one song! I first heard Aurora’s etheric voice on shorts and went to tunes to see what else she’s got OMG! So I spent some money and researched some vids and thought how sad I missed about a decade of her voice and pleasant self but the next day like magic this album showed up And Wow! Hits on this to be sure; the whole album is a demonstration of vocal and musical mastery! Its a transportation device in a sense using sound-power moving us through and to invisible places inside and out. Its been decades since I bought an album I could play start to finish over and over. Thank You Aurora and the Team!

This is the most AURORA album, yet. It is also her most personal one. What I love about her is that she makes music that is so meaningful and straight from the heart. During such difficult times here on earth we are lucky to have an artist in touch with what is so wrong with the world and our people.

She always makes such intentional and emotionally connected music. She is really in touch with nature in every album, but I feel that this album takes it to a new extreme. She knows the human condition and mind better than anyone is some ways. She realizes how it is to be human.
- Hit & miss for me

AURORA returns to the musical landscape with an interesting and yet sometimes unfulfilling collection of songs. Clearly to this listener (a fan for almost a decade) some heavier editing would have resulted in a more focused work.
Aurora, the person not the artist, is continuing to work out her place in an increasingly complicated and conflicted world. A world where the timid and the weak are being crushed under a weight of stubborn and relentless evil … a world where it is easier to move one’s heart away from the troubles it sees … in many instances it’s the only way many of us can cope.
That said, this album is an interesting experimental journey with most songs working while others don’t … a bit of “studioitis” has infected her work on this album where production overwhelms the music … *but* when the songs hit, they hit hard and on target. I’ll leave it up to you to make your best list from it but my favourites throughout several listens are: Echo of my Shadow (with ambience borrowed from We are going to the Moon), To be Alright, The Conflict of the Mind, The Essence, A Soul with no King (with a few obvious sound references to Led Zeppelin III), the beautiful Dreams, My Body is not Mine, and the floaty outro Invisible Wounds.
Your mileage may vary … I found the album on the whole reflects significant growth while using known tropes at times … I found it overall less surprising than her last album but a worthwhile listen. AURORA remains one of the bright lights. 3/5 Recommended.
