Jim Croce,in my opinion, was the most amazing singer and songwriter. It still makes my heart hurt to think that he died at the age of 30. In his short life, he touched so many people with his songs. He passed away a few months before I was born, but he was my fathers favorite singer. My father passed away in 1974 from a brain tumor. He was in constant pain but he would lay in the living room floor every evening listening to Jim Croce. It brought him peace. He passed this tradition to me. I listen to Jim Croce every evening. I was only three when my father passed away but thru this music, I feel connected to my father. Jim Croce may have lived a much too short life but he left behind such a legacy and I will be forever grateful for him.
- Solid 5 Stars!

I’m a huge fan of his music-it’s just all amazing, every song! He died too young, I know if he lived longer he would probably be remembered as one of the greatest! Gone too soon…

Jim Croce died young in plane crash. His short career was riddled with folky hits. Half of his catalog are the best folk ballads you'll find. Great melodies. A distinctive voice. Fun for guitar players. The OTHER half of his songs are funny story songs like Bad Bad Leroy Brown or Rapid Roy or Workin' at the Carwash Blues. He's kind of like an Italian-American version of Chuck Berry in the way that we writes clever little story songs and plays with words. You can probably get by with a compilation since he had so few albums, but just becasue you can fit his best work on one long album of 20 songs or so doesn't mean that each and every one isn't a classic. Pick up a collection.
