I enjoy the minor notes (or the pitch changer effect) used in this album to keep the beats and rhythms engaging — otherwise it would be boring. I will say it’s a bit too much for my taste in Chicago. Also, Gualala 2 is a straight rip of Yearnings of the Wind from the video game Chrono Trigger. However, because that tune comes in only halfway through the song and the variations of it and causal beats are interesting, it’s fine I guess. Vancouver 3 is another favorite. That track feels to me like reflection on the mundanity of everyday life while we consistently chase deadlines and tasks and dopamine, all in a repetitive loop that means nothing but feels like it has a purpose.
I look forward to your next work and appreciate the uniqueness of your sound.
- How refreshing and healthy !

Everything this guy does reeks of authenticity, uniqueness, creativity, and I'm sorry, but from the music ITSELF, kindness. All those characteristics are transparent in such MUSICAL, unpretentious production. It's so easy to listen to, with just enough humor (yes, even in instrumentals) and sporadically odd chord progressions and instrumentation to raise an eyebrow, as a perplexed flower. Mac De Marco is a North American TREASURE; may he continue to contribute something so remarkably honest and down-to-earth for decades to come. I was delighted to learn he quit smoking during the making of this album, because THIS guy's health and creative output does immeasurable good for close listeners of contemporary music.

"Critics" may dislike what's happening here with this album, but this is absolute true-to-form cross country (x-continent!) road music. You can imagine Mr. Mac touring through city after city, landscape after landscape and responding to all the places he's been to and all the people he has seen & met. An instrumental album that is equal parts contemplative and gorgeous. May it prove the same to you (as it did with me). More-more-more please and keep on keepin' on. Bravo!
- Beautiful!

Since 2013 I've grown with Mac's work. Every time he produces an album it has been the vibe I need at the time. 'Five Easy Hot Dogs' is a wonderfully calming instrumental album that may just help put your mind at ease during these crazy times.
