This album changed my life for the better. It reminds me of the winter months when everything is lifeless and grey. I can’t wait until winter so I can listen to this and album and Vs by Pearl Jam over and over again.

True to his own style, Layne is brutally honest on this piece of art called 'Above'. Both lyrics and music paint helpless and terrifying pictures. Man of a genius mind lets us in the darkest depths of his beautiful soul. Yet this record isn't depressive at all - quite the opposite, if you understand the purpose. When you hear Layne sing, you know his life, however short, was not a waste by any means. RIP

Like one reviewer said this is not Alice In Chains light, nor is it Pearl Jam with Layne on vocals, or Screaming Trees without the trees. This is a monster in its own. Starting off with a slow build of Wake Up and escalating into Lifeless Dead and I don't know anything this portrays the power of Layne and everyone backing. A great record from start to finish.

The first time I heard "wake up" I actually teared up a little it's a sad song but beautifully done my wife says it's depressing but I don't think so, Layne Staley was reaching out for help but sadly no one realized it until it was too late. Few songs make me emotional but this one got me, I listen to it everyday going to and from work and never get tired of it.

Albums of all time in my opinion. Listening to the album now and comparing it to all the garbage out right now...I'm sitting here wondering, what happened to true grunge rock? What happened? This album is one of the last of the golden era, where you could pop in the disc and rock the whole album....

I couldn't agree with the fans more and with iTunes less. This album is so far away from AIC and Pearl Jam it's a completely different sound and feel. The iTunes notes are just plain lazy writing.

It baffles me that iTunes can let such a opinionated review get posted. This is obviously regarded as a great album FAR better than the review gives it credit for. THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO VOTE TO GET RID OF THE CURRENT REVIEW. seriously. because that is ridiculous.
