I never gave myself a chance to enjoy Alanis’s music when I was a kid when it was first introduced to me, but now that I’m older and that there’s a musical based off Alanis’s music... Holy Sh*t snacks! I appreciate the music a lot more and this cast is amazing!

I’ve loved the original album by Alanis Morissette and when I found out her music was becoming a musical, I literally fell “Head over Feet”! I have been following this show since it’s World Premiere at A.R.T. in 2018. I’ve been praying it would transfer to Broadway and that came true. You should know that this is not another Jukebox Musical. Alanis rewrote the music and lyrics for this incredible story by Diablo Cody. I saw the show during previews and I was literally blown away. I haven’t seen a show this intense and emotional since I saw RENT! It’s life changing, especially Lauren Patten’s show stopping “You Oughta Know. It’s so good that there is a mid-show standing ovation that can last for minutes. Overall, I Highly recommend this album, but you need to see the show in person to know how intense it is!

Kudos to the cast and Tom Kitt for giving new life to some timeless Alanis classics. Standouts on the album include Wake Up (with Hands Clean intertwined in it), Thank U (with elements of Torch and Empathy) and Forgiven.
  • Even better live

Reductive. Alanis alone is more powerful. But the show is not bad while it does bring this great music to another generation and audience, and truly sounds great in person- even if you are wishing Alanis would come out- and you never do stop wishing she would come out and lift the vocals and grace us with her presence while the hope is -some of the excitement. Some of the cast is significantly better then the rest in the lead area. Elizabeth Stanley being the standout. Some of the cast could have used some more powerful vocal strength- Alanis’ voice is impossible to forget the height that she sings at- and though some great emotion is there Alanis is not. Even the choreography doesn’t capture her. Some missed research that’s still accessible. Alanis is alive and there is also plenty of video. Why didn’t you capture her? Seemed important, and it seemed to be trying to. The way Alanis moved was specific, truly awesome and special. Alanis deserves that depth of realization here, but doesn't get it. It will be better in the tour.

This cast is so talented. I loved AM’s original music and Tom Kitt killed it with these new arrangements! Can’t wait to see the show again and again.
