  • An honest stretch that just went too far.

Being As An Ocean has always been one of the bands of trying to express and dive into other depths of creativity, and would be considered one of the founding fathers in metal to do so, while that being said, this album with giving it a thorough listen of trying to understand the concept, and trying hard to see their vision in this sum of tracks, I just don’t see this being another direction for the group, with their singles “Find Our Way”, and “Play Pretend”, are the defining changes that are keeping the record and the band (from my perspective), a float, the rest of the wave of hip-hop / rap, elements don’t make to define the record well, rather they only cease to offer an empty feeling of, and lack there of, the Being As An Ocean, that we all came to love. The new rap wave fails to deliver any sort of impact, while only giving listeners another record to say that it’s coming to an end.

Just heard this today for the first time. I have been listening to this all morning. Listening objectively, to me this album is beautifully well written. The obscenities in a few of the songs were a bit of a turn off for me, but overall the message and writing are top notch. I would have probably given 5 stars if not for the language on a few tracks.

Man I was so hyped for this album, but man was I let down, yeah they had a few good songs on this album but overall it’s just missing that classic BAAO sound. Not a fan of Joel singing so much when he has an amazing scream and deathly lows. Which he hardly does on this album. The overall sounds is alright but really sounds like a store brand version of New BMTH. I miss the classic being as an ocean, I’m not saying bands can’t evolve or change, but at least change for the better :/ RIP BAAO

Been to many shows and even met this group. Incredible music, incredible message...But what’s with the electronic? Music lost its unique feel. I no longer connect with the music the way i did. Upsetting.
  • Could have been a great band

However they decided to follow trends and ditch what made them unique and dumb down every aspect of the band. It is sad more than anything, This is pretty bad. Their sound had been on the decline for years now and I think Being As An Ocean is finally buried with the casket door shut.
  • Puked listening to this

What is with the cheesy electric crap? So so So SO sick of hearing the same stuff from bands. And it hurts these dudes are doing this.

What happened to this band? They used to be very good and creative but this is more pop crap and boring
  • Just bad

I get progression, but abandoning basically everything that helped to make one’s sound isn’t progression. The ideas are all over the place and everything comes off as stale.
  • Kinda mixed feelings to be honest

Let me say i have listened to this band for some years, seen em live a few times. They have great on stage presence and great lyrics and a somewhat unique raw emotionally positive feel to their style. I gave this a listen, and just cant get into. Its like over produced, incrediblybereft of any heaviness, and feels artificial. i hope others do not feel the same.
