They are channeling a mix of all the good things I like about rock. They are not crafting any new generes - and that is what I like. The singer is, for me, one of the best vocalists I've ever heard for heavy bottom but melodic rock like this. They have just a little stoner rock DNA in them to keep it all pounding and dark but they have ample melodicism and satisfying structures without getting anywhere near the predictable radio churn of Nickelback clones. To my ears they pulled in some Zep, yes, and also the old school of Soundgarden and not-so-old school of Audioslave (Cornell comparison, at times, make some sense here). For brief moments, I agree with some of the Tool comparisons - though I hear more of that on their new EP. Maybe in the vocal lines, I hear some of the better songs by Shinedown, sans the extreme over-production that they moved into. The guitarist in me loves the lead tones. The guitarist and bassist bring some great and even unpredictable phrasing and power chord choices into the progressions though I didn’t always care for the short 1 or 2 bar shreds they guitarist broke into at times. It is hard to find melodic, straight ahead, pumping rock like this these days so I am excited to get more of their music.

I stumbled upon this and it made my night. They have a unique sound that's like a southern post grunge band. If you like hard rock, I highly recomend this and their 2 other albums as well. It's well worth the price.

If you’re meandering through iTunes looking for something to deliver your soul some Rock and Roll, look no further. The raw vocals of lead singer Matt James is undeniably a point of separation between good and great (he’s great). However, the band is also paired with an outstanding ensemble of musicians that all bring legendary talent and an original sound to the forefront. The inspiration of their work varies from Tool to Led Zeppelin, giving a unique mix that gives the listener something new. These guys rock. Download it and your ears will thank you.
