While the sound is very different from Abney’s previous work, it still has their identity and a unique style of music you don’t see often. The songs are great as always, and while it’s not their best work, it’s still a fantastic album.

No female vocalist, none of the strings that were absolutely vital to their sound: just synthetic instrumentation. Maybe it’s not their fault; maybe they just can’t make enough money to keep talent around. But the fact is this is not the Abney Park we loved. Steampunk is dead.
