this is pure Norwegian Black Metal, this band might be super popular in the black metal scene, but its still pure and it will always be, mayhem created norwegian black metal, a whole music genre, and in my opinion the best metal, rest in peace dead, and øystein, they will be remembered for being the best vocalist of black metal(dead) and øystein for being the creator of this genre

LIKE ALL METEAL THE SCREAMING I COULD DO WITHOUT. HOWEVER INSTRUMENTAL SUCH AS B MOON I THINK IS GOOD. THEY ARE NOT LIKE THE TYPICAL METAL LIKE SOME OF THE MORE WELL KNOW METAL IN THE USA. THEY ARE NOT POSING OR LOOKING FOR SHOCK VALUE LIKE OZZY MANSON JUDAS P. THERE MUSIC ONE THING. NOT MUCH INTO THEIR LYRICS AS I DON'T KNOW OINSTEIN,NORWAY.BUT I DO TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY WHAT THEY REPRESENT.IT'S NOT SHOCK VALUE.AS IT IS VERY REAL AND I DON'T CHOOSE TO GO TO THE DARK SIDE TODAY.

Taken as music in general it’s closer to a two and half star rating for at least a tight presentation and obviously deep emotional commitment invested in its production. Fans of the genre I imagine love this album quite and as casual listeners might rank it at the top of what this extreme style has to offer. But that’s still a relative score as it’s not very accessible without a strong appreciation for this type of music and what it’s origins represents. So for this type of metal it gets high marks, but taken on its own the lack of melody and variation detracts from lay persons musical experience. This kind of music takes itself very seriously and lacks the irony of Ozzy or the musical prowess of Metallica; both of whom would be considered too commercial for fans of this genre.
  • Best black metal band ever!!!
