Discovered these guys at a wedding a few months ago and was blown away. They opened with a traditional acoustic set that included a fun version of "the itsy bitsy spider" for the kids as well as some other classics. Once the women had put the chilluns to bed they broke out the electric set, added a drummer and cranked the amps. Needless to say the show was incredibly intimate being so small (no dirty hippies to shove out of my way). These guys proved their talents to me in many ways. I was unfortunately disappointed in this album as it does nothing to capture the live sound, which may not have been the bands' intent. I would love to see iTunes make a live show available as soon as possible. If these guys come within earshot, you need to be there.

Great album, and its good band, but beware, the song Dublin Blues is mislabeled. Whats labeled Dublin Blues is actually Ole Love Ole Tune and whats labeled Ole Love Ole Tune is actually Dublin Blues. The other songs might be messed up too, but other than that its a solid album.
- Chalk another one up for Jam Grass!

These guys are good! If ever given the opportunity to see them live, by all means go...their studio recordings are good but don't give full meaning to what they can do in a jam setting...incredible fiddle!

The previous review obviously has never been so fortunate to have seen blueground undergrass live. If the had they would recognize the musical talent and pervasive song writing ability of Mr. Matthew Williams. “get a new singer” should also note that the legendary Jimmy Herring and Col Bruce Hampton also perform on this album. This is a great album, however you are doing yourself a great disservice if you have never seen BGUG live. When compared to a live BGUG hootenanny, the album doesn’t hold a candle, of course not to take away quality of the cd, its just that this is a band to see with a beer in your hand and 1000 hippis beside you grooving as hard as you are.
- get a new singer

All these years I've been misled by the music industry as to what talent is. If only I had met my husband (a jam band junkie) 10 years earlier so that he could open my ears, eyes, and mind to the truely remarkable sounds and REAL talent of the likes of Blueground Undergrass like he has in the past couple years! Here are just a few personal reasons I love this album: I love songs like these that I can sing along with, the original tracks have great meaningful lyrics, the layer of instruments (fiddle, banjo, bass, acoustic and electric guitar, steel guitar, horns, etc.) gives an eclectic feel to the Americana sound. If you like thought-provoking lyrics and good solid melodies with some newgrass/jazz style improv thrown in, definitely give this album a try.
