Let me start off by saying that this album is one that I discovered in later 2014. I had known about Element Eighty through their single being on a video game called Need For Speed. I think the song was "Broken Promises", but that was years ago, it may have been something different. To take a trip down memory lane, I simply typed in their name onto the internet, and this album came up. Considering, "Broken Promises" was such a good song, I figured I'd listen to the first song that came up for this album, the song was "Guntruck". This song alone is worth paying the $9.90 for alone. Between the guitar work, the lyrics, overall instrumentals, the song is simply a masterpiece. I instinctively listened to the entire album and I was completely blown away, to a degree that is unimaginable. Every single song on this album is perfect. Never before have I heard a rock album be this "straight up" before. Every song on here is crafted with a sense of pure orginality and every song on here sounds completely different than the previous one. And all of them , I say again ALL OF THEM, are PHENOMENAL. The music and lyrics, along with the vocals are some of the best you could ask for in terms of sound. The guitar work is catchy, heavy, and almost groovy in a way. It was unlike anything that I have heard previously. It is so well executed and well sounding that it literally gives you chills with certain riffs. The vocals are done extremely well, both singing and the screams all blend perfectly with the music here. It is amazing to me how this band wasn't very popular, or why they haven't gained popularity and made a come back. We live in a world where generic, boring bands all produce the same thing, and this gets overlooked. Absolute masterpiece! Best songs - War, Spite, Guntruck... buy the whole thing.

I happened to stumble upon Element Eighty while listening to the Red radio station on Pandora and heard "Broken Promises", which I had heard before but didn't know who the band was at the time. The song rocked, so I looked them up in iTunes and discovered a couple of other pretty good songs on their first album. I checked out their most recent album and felt like I was listening to a broken record. Every track sounded the same and lacked the heart and hard sound of their first album. Hopefully the band regroups and avoids being a one-hit-wonder. C'mon guys, get it together and get back to rockin'!!

Love these guys. Wish they were still together. Also wish I could find their Mercuric album even though yes almost half of it are songs from their Element Eighty album.

This album is just as good as there other two. The power with a flick of a chord and don't forget the raw emotion with his lyrics. The sing to scream switch instantly and flawlessly. Only one problem where are you guys now?

I see alot of these reviews on here mentioning the Bear as not as good as their "first CD", refering to their self-titled album that came out in 2003 with "Broken Promises" on it......well, I know many of you aren't local to this band so it would seem that it was their first, but their "first" album is actually their second and the Bear is their 3rd. "Mercuric" was their first, even though it had a few of the songs on it as it did on their second album, people missed out on songs such as "Frustrated" and "Painmaker" and the original "Dummyblock" and "Slackjaw" which is a hell of alot better than the redone versions on their second album (you can only get those versions if you got their demo from a live show back in 2001-02). Before you get all wound up with their song from Need for Speed Underground, you need to go to their website and get Mercuric if you want to hear the real E80. The Bear was different but still good all in all. It was alot more "singy" than the other two albums, but it still jammed pretty good.

I knew these guys when they were trying to get famous. Great people to hang out with AND work with. They rocked out then and they still do! What up Dave and Matt?!
