Kula Shaker has dusted off thier old title of 60's-esk, Eastern infused rock and it couldn't be better. Sounding like they never left, the EP leaves you wanting more which is exactly what Crispen and company have planned. Let's hope this tides fans over until their the release of their third album. In the meantime I'm dusting off the old albums and cranking this scorching new release!

Man. Occassionally I will search for Kula hoping, praying I will find someting new. Yesterday, I felt like an Archeologist on a dig, finding a rare & coveted treasure. One that you thought may never be found. And the Hurricanes won the cup yesterday, too (which was way cool). But I digress... I bought "Revenge" as soon as I saw it. What a treat. Although I do miss some of the Middle Eastern influence, I can't complain. I like the rock aspect of it. A little heavier than albums past. Their site is completely new and clever. I am seriously thinking of planning my honeymoon around when their shows are, as I live in the US. I'm there! Cheers!

I bought this the second I saw it. It's good to get reacquainted with this band and their vibe... ten years to the week since I bought "K!" Here's hoping they find some really good silver thread* and make their next visit to the studio a doozy. *see "Hollow Man."

I am so glad to see new stuff from Kula Shaker. They were one of my favorite bands back in their heyday. This new stuff is certainly not as great as the stuff from K and PP&A, but it's good nonetheless! Moremoremore, please Kula shaker!
  • Great Tunes but here's a problem................

All great rocking tunes, and the sound is as good as anything they've done in my opinion (I've bought everything Kula Shaker has released that I know about). This is a great band and I'm glad they're back. That being said, why do they feel the need to include virulent Bush hating lyrics in Diktator of the Free World and alienate half of their audience? Some bands just don't get it that a lot of rock fans are not left wingers. If the bashing were done in a humorous way, great. I have a sense of humor. To me though, those lyrics are over the top. Of course we do (or hopefully most of us reading this do) live in the free world and we can all say what we want. We are very lucky to have that right. That also gives me the right to wonder if I want to put my money down for the full CD by an America hater (or at least a Bush hater) when it comes out. Or am I missing something?

Kula Shaker was one of my all-time favorite bands, so I was completely psyched when I saw they had reunited and this EP was available. I immediately purchased it, and have to say I'm somewhat disappointed, this stuff doesn't hold a candle to their previous work, the songs are somewhat mediocre, with the exception of Revenge of the King, which is plain OK. The song structures have changed, they are now much more riff based (Revenge kinda reminds me of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus"), and the lyrics are pretty lame compared to what they used to do. Let's hope the album is better. For those of you who haven't listened to The Jeevas, the band Crispian led in the meantime, check out 1-2-3-4, their first album. It's much less ambitious work than what he did with Kula Shaker, but the songs are pretty good, nonetheless. Their second album, "Cowboys and Indians", is quite bad, in part because Crispian got obsessed with George Bush and the US's invasion of Iraq, and unfortunately it doesn't seem like he's shaked that off, "Diktator" being a pretty obvious example of how that only leads to crappy songs where he only seems to care about making a statement.

Revenge of the king is such a triumphant sounding song. This EP sounds like they never left. Diktator of the free world is so fun to listen to because its spot on about Dubya. 6 ft down is amazing and so is troubadour. These guys are back in a big way. time for the paradigm to shift. GOD BLESS THE KING

I've been a fan since "K", always great music. I've come to expect a certain sound from Kula Shaker. That sound is the same even with the lack of the Jay. Kudos to Kula Shaker!!!

It's great that Kula Shaker is back, I never gave up hope! This new EP is pretty good, but in my opinion, lacks the same energy and high-octane fire and poppiness that "K" had. However, the song "Troubadour" is EXCELLENT!! I can't wait to see what else Kula has to offer me when their album comes out!
