As a former professional musician who played with both secular and orthodox musicians and as a spiritual (but not an Orthodox/ fully Torah observant Jew as of yet..) I first heard Meilech Kohn’s “Mi Yodea” just passing through a radio station and was immediately drawn to the beautiful melody and unique his voice. The songs vary in genre from dance to heartfelt “chassisishe” melodies, with each song unique in its own way. I immediately asked myself who was singing, looked up this artist, purchased the album and it’s now as one of my favorite albums in my current rotation/collection right now (even beating out my daily Eric Clapton fix) and although I don’t understand most of the words (mostly sung in Hebrew and Yiddish) I hear the passion and the heartfelt musicianship from the singer and its artists, even with its slick production at times. Next is checking Meilech out live and waiting for the next album, great stuff.... Ps- it’s also very cool to “like the artist” on his Facebook page and send and receive back a message from the artist himself. So, from One musician to another Meilech keep on grooving and making the world come together through love and peace with your beautiful soul and music ( in the words of the blessed Reb Shlomo) my “Holy Brother”...
