If you wanna be motivated, have someone put inspiration into your brain, and last but not least, hear some damn good music, then buy this album. Rollins Band is a mix of hard rock, funk, jazz, noise, heavy metal crushing riffs, and the one and only Henry Rollins angry shouting straight into your face! Weight is such and damn good album and probably their best along with The End Of Silence. There are a few bands out there who can make you feel some power, but Rollins Band makes records that can make you feel the anger!

As this aging punk matures, I find myself wanting more than just punk rock. Of course, it stills needs that edge and attitude, but something a little more complicated. This delivers. It's post-hardcore, with a cynicism born of idealism. And when I'm a billionaire, I'm gonna hire Henry Rollins to be my life coach. Till then, I'll just listen to his music.

This is a great Rollins Band record, maybe not The End of Silence but still essential for HR fans. Shine in particular is my personal anthem, and as someone else said who doesn't want to disconnect, to pull your brainstem out.

What an amazing album from beginning to end. Everyone remembers Liar but songs like Disconnect, Step Back and Divine are what make this album so great.

Ok so most people here never would have bought the album if it weren't for Beavis screaming the chorus on Mtv. But with that said this is a great album. One reason it works is because Rollins takes influence from the alternative scene(which is ironic because Black Flag influenced all those bands). He combines teh funk rock of the Red hot chili peppers and the intensity of Rage against the machine. Rollins has no melody what so ever but it still sounds good. Liar is easily the best track on here as Rollins sounds as if he is a phycologist analyzing you right before taking your head off. And Disconnect the opening track has the best riff and guitar work on there. Speaking of guitar work it is absouluty incredible. Goin funky, metal, punk, jazz and utilizing all different effects. And the rhythem section works wonders to. Overall one of the most pleasing genre bending records and a great cult record.

This is no End of the Silence, but that would be a very difficult one to top, anyway. A bit more progressive than the early stuff, and a little uneven, but a lot of catchy songs all the same. Civilized (of Dennis Miller fame) is probaby the best. Good album.

Weight is an interesting evolution in the Rollins Band career. They had always made each album a new experience, but this one is more-so than others. Still immensly heavy, but it has a great jazz groove thanks to the new bassist Melvin. Maybe not the best album for intoductions to Rollins, but a great album none the less.

Although the song (and hilarious video) for "Liar" persuaded me to buy this tape when it was originally released, some musical motivation and inspiration surprisingly made me like this album a lot. How many times have you wished you could disconnect yourself from the harsh realities of life every once in a while? Rollins shreds the hypocrites and cowards of this world to pieces, and gives you a nice kick in the posterior to get you moving in the right direction for good measure. "Alien Blueprint" is one of my favorite songs of all time - check it out.
