The songs and the band are fantastic!!, But, I do not like the production. I wish timbre and dynamic expression were taken into consideration. Sounds like old AM radio.

I listen to group with passion. Their music touches my heart. I raise my hands in the air to absorb their music in me.

The lead singer is literally Otis Redding incarnate as a white man. The band is great, with good riffs and a strong backbone of brass. Good stuff

Even though I gave this superb work a 5 star review before I'm rewriting this because I've grown with this album over the last 2 and a half months or so and can say that this album will probably live with me for many, many more... The subject matter, thematic continuity, live instrumentation, vocal masterclass performance at times..... This album is special Stand outs are flow with it, I'll be your woman, waves, brain matter, and is it me My only gripe is how poorly mixed 'flow with it' in particular is... Such an incredible song that could've been made even better with more clarity and a widening of the stereo field so as to let some instruments have their space (room to shine).

I don't reviews often, but I feel compelled. After their debut album, the second provides a combination of wonderful tunes, catchy hooks, and yet there are a number of complex tunes and recurring vignettes placed strategically throughout the album. The production is top quality and with intricate arrangements at times. So many albums are not recorded and mixed as albums- as single conceptual effort. It's refreshing to listen to musicianship. It's becoming undervalued.

I found the album disappointing. Some songs are just weird, and truly noise. To each his/her own. However, I recommend pre-viewing each song before buying. Caveat emptor...

What a refreshing breath of yesteryear! St. Paul and the Broken Bones have topped my favorites list since the release of their 1st CD. With their 2nd release comes a new set of songs which harken the soul of yesteryear with a twist only St. Paul can conjure. Love all the songs but if I had to pick a favorite it would be Burning Rome! Recommend this release highly!
