One of my favorites to come out this year 🔥

This record is the biggest disappointment I have ever heard. This is limp lifeless rock music disguised as black metal. It is not even slightly evil sounding. I was so disappointed because Nailed to the Cross was such a killer black metal song. It seemed like Dark Funeral had found a new singer from Hell. As it is, the rerecording of Nailed to the Cross is the only thing worth listening to. Check out their first two records for some evil 90s black metal. Do not buy this crap.

The guitar melodies/harmonies range from haunting, to evil, to melancholic, to beautiful. The drums exhibit tight and precise blastbeats, with cymbal-work that effectively accents the guitars. The vocals are a bit loud in the mix, but they exhibit excellent technique and delivery. Overall, the album manages to be an accessible yet brutal Dark Funeral release that is both catchy and relentlessly brutal. Excellent starting point for new fans. Standout tracks include: Unchain My Soul, Where Shadows Forever Reign, As I Ascend, Nail Them to the Cross. Be sure to check out that excellent triplet-based blastbeat and dirty swing shuffle in Nail Them to the Cross.

This album is amazing. It totally caught me off guard. Probably one of their best albums.

I don't care for the new singer. His vocals aren't that good and are way too high in the mix.
  • Vocals are WAY TOO LOUD!

I can barely hear the guitars which is the best thing about this band. Oh well, I'm not a fan of the new vocalist anyway.
