- By far the best is Alice Smith cover

By far the best song on this album is the cover by Alice Smith. You can just feel it when she sings it. Lauryn Hill was just okay. I think we have to get used to the fact that the old Lauryn is gone, never to return. Not sure how I felt about Usher and MJB being on the album. I love them both, but neither added anything.
- Wow Alice smith!!!

There are some great voices here no doubt but something is missing to me that keeps it from being perfect , there R&B singers not jazz singers .
- Missing Andra Day?!

Why is Andra Day's cover of Mississippi Goddamn not on this soundtrack? Epic Fail iTunes! She's the voice we've all been waiting for.

Lauren Hill, you better work girl! So glad she is back, stronger than ever, the music is fabulous, this is one of those albums you'll listen to over and over . Ms. Hill does not disappoint!

LHill is so talented but she isn't giving any soul in these tracks :(
- The most important soul album of late...

I can't think of anything recently that can top this. Just buy it. Legendary.
- Jazmine Sullivan is an underrated gem!

Am I the only one who feels like Jazmine Sullivan came in and stole this whole album? She gave such a modern take on Baltimore. I listen to it DAILY. I adore Lauryn but for some reason was left wanting something more vocally.
- WOW! This is AMAZING!
